Our Mission
Who We Are
Sunshine Orchard is a beacon of hope and education for children affected by the world’s longest civil war.
Located along the Moi River on the Thailand–Karen State border, it began 15 years ago as a daring rescue mission to protect children in danger.
Starting with 120 students in kindergarten through sixth grade, the school expanded each year until it reached a full K–12 program. As conflict intensified, more children sought safety and education here, and enrollment grew to about 360 boarding students. To ensure quality care, we later capped boarding numbers, improving nutrition, supervision, and personal support.
Today, despite ongoing conflict in Burma, Sunshine Orchard continues to open its doors. We now serve over 300 boarding students and an additional 500 day students from nearby Thai villages.
